Treating pregnancy pain with compassion and expertise.
When you visit us, you’ll meet with a skilled licensed physical therapist who will talk to you before any treatment is given. That way, they can understand your pain and develop a customized treatment plan. Your individualized treatment sessions last 60 minutes and combine manual therapy with therapeutic exercise. This powerful combination produces effective, quick results so you can return to your active lifestyle.

Your treatment plan may include:
Massage techniques to treat particular muscles.
Instruction in therapeutic exercise and strengthening techniques.
Recommendations of work, leisure and sleeping postures to minimize your pain.
A special pregnancy table with a removable section that gives space and support for the expanding tummy during your pregnancy. This table allows you to be safe and comfortable on your tummy during treatment.
Pregnancy belts that give support to your weak pelvic ligaments, which can help reduce your pain.

Some of the back pain associated with pregnancy can be avoided by following these tips:
When you get out of bed, first roll to one side and use your arms to push your body into a sitting position; then sit for a moment before standing.
When doing household chores, it’s more important than ever to position your feet to face your task rather than twisting your upper body.
Try to carry two light bags of groceries, one on either side, rather than one heavy bag.
Avoid bending over with your legs straight, and pay particular attention to lifting techniques, especially if you also have a young child.

Possible causes of Low back pain during pregnancy:
The hormonal changes during pregnancy result in neglect and weakness of the ligaments around the pelvis. These ligaments can be the source of pain/ strain that makes it difficult to perform simple activities such as walking, standing or turning over in bed.
The weak ligaments in conjunction with the unevenly distributed weight gain of pregnancy can cause excess tension build-up in the lower back and buttock muscles. These tense, overactive muscles eventually result in pain.
